The haku-kinji used is woven in a small weaving workshop in Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi Prefecture, one of Japan's leading silk fabric production areas. Fujiyoshida is a historic production center that dates back to the Heian period. This land, fed by spring water from Mount Fuji, has the clean water that is essential for good dyeing.
In the weaving process, Yamamoto's woven haku-kinji uses as many as 13,000 warp threads in a width of just 47 cm, and for the weft, 120-denier yarn is double-twisted and used as an astonishing 240-denier thick yarn.
By weaving slowly on shuttle looms, the fabric traps air and develops a three-dimensional feel, and artisans constantly inspect it for any damage. Dyeing, yarn production, warping, and weaving are each carried out by skilled artisans for our customers, under strict quality control, with the goal of making the best products possible.
