Delivery to the United Kingdom
You can choose from the following delivery methods for addresses in the United Kingdom. The delivery fee is shown at checkout before you place your order.
- DHL (International Standard Delivery): arrives in about 2–5 days after dispatch. This is the method we recommend.
- EMS (International Economy Delivery): arrives in about 7–21 days after dispatch, at a lower fee. Available when your order weighs 14 kg or less.
- Combined delivery: ships together with your earlier order to save the delivery fee. Shipping may take longer.
- Your own delivery account: if you have your own carrier account (for example, DHL), we can ship with it and charge no delivery fee. A handling fee of JPY 2,000 applies for export procedures such as the invoice, packing list, and export packing. To use it, send us the carrier name and account number through the support page; we enable it after checking.
Delivery times are counted from the day we dispatch your parcel and do not include customs clearance. For more about each method, see
Delivery.
Prices and taxes on ApparelX
- When you are logged in, prices are shown in your account currency. For accounts in the United Kingdom, this is usually British pounds (GBP). To see how we convert prices from Japanese yen, see Currency and Exchange Rates.
- Japanese consumption tax is not charged on orders delivered to the United Kingdom.
- We are not registered for VAT in the United Kingdom. We do not charge UK VAT, and our invoices do not show UK VAT.
Import VAT and customs duty
We send orders to the United Kingdom on DAP (Delivered at Place) terms. This means that you, as the importer, pay any import VAT, customs duty, and customs fees.
The carrier (DHL, or Royal Mail or Parcelforce for EMS) will ask you to pay these before or at delivery and may add its own handling fee. Please pay them so that your parcel can be delivered.
If your business is registered for VAT in the United Kingdom, you may be able to reclaim the import VAT you paid. For details, please check with HMRC or your accountant.
Orders of £135 or less
In the United Kingdom, VAT on goods in a consignment worth £135 or less is normally charged at the point of sale instead of at import. Because we are not registered for UK VAT, we do not charge UK VAT on these orders either.
Please account for VAT according to your business's situation. For example, if your business is registered for VAT, you usually account for it through the reverse charge on your VAT return. If you are not sure, please ask HMRC or your accountant.
Customs duty on products made in Japan
Customs duty depends on the product and where it was made. Some of our products are made in Japan and may qualify for a reduced or zero rate of duty under the UK–Japan Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) when the invoice includes a statement on origin.
We can provide a statement on origin for some products only. If you need one, please contact us before you place your order and tell us the product codes. We will let you know whether it is available.
