Kofu City in Yamanashi Prefecture has been famous for jewelry processing (polishing, cutting, grinding) since the Edo period, These cufflinks are handcrafted by artisans in Kofu who specialize in jewelry making. These are simply round onyx stones, but they are precisely cut to a thinness with almost no error and fitted into the extremely shallow grooves of the cufflink base. This requires the long experience and skill of a craftsman, a technique only achievable by artisans who work with delicate jewelry.
