Mud-dye-style Bengara processing × coating
By bringing Bengara and Sumi together, we created a unique piece that is both nostalgic and warm, resembling traditional mud dyeing while offering a fresh, modern take.
It is characterized by an atmosphere reminiscent of the changes that occur over time, along with a Japanese aesthetic created by Bengara (reddish brown) × Sumi (ancient black).

＜Bengara＞
This material was once used as a pigment for murals in ancient burial mounds.
The processing facility is located in Fukuyama, Hiroshima Prefecture. Approximately 70 km north of there is Fukiya in Takahashi, Okayama Prefecture, which flourished as a Bengara-producing area during the Edo period.
Today, the reddish-brown Sekishu roof tiles, Bengara latticework, and red walls still remain, allowing visitors to experience the atmosphere of this historic townscape.
We use Bengara, which has been part of Japanese life since ancient times, as a raw material.

＜Processing Method＞
After piece dyeing, the fabric is coated with Bengara and sumi ink, followed by rawroll Wash Finish processing.
The rawroll Wash Finish creates a random, hand-dyed-like crinkled texture and natural unevenness.
Each roll, and even different sections within the same roll, has its own unique appearance.

By bringing Bengara and sumi ink together, we created an old-yet-new piece with the nostalgia and warmth of mud dyeing.
It features an atmosphere reminiscent of natural aging and a Japanese aesthetic created by Bengara (reddish brown) ✕ sumi ink (ancient black).
