Hello! I’m Takada from the ApparelX News editorial team.
This time, we’d like to introduce "amuca (Amuca)", a textile manufacturer whose products have recently been added to our lineup!
It’s a very intriguing manufacturer: "a textile manufacturer that recycles discarded fishing nets."
Please be sure to read to the end!
amuca® is a material brand developed by amu Co., Ltd., based on discarded fishing gear.
By purchasing discarded fishing gear from fishing ports across Japan, sorting it, and processing it, the company turns it back into textile.
Instead of simply turning used fishing nets into another product as-is, they first return them to nylon raw material.
By regenerating that into new nylon, they are able to create textile that is made from recycled materials while still emphasizing quality.
From collection of discarded fishing nets to recycling and materialization, the entire process is visualized as traceability information, with attention not only to environmental considerations but also to the quality of the material itself.
Here are amuca® Fabric products that can actually be purchased on ApparelX.
*These product numbers are currently being prepared for mass production, and brand tag provision and orders for mass production of 11m or more will begin after October 2026. At present, you can place orders in advance for samples up to 10m.
