This is mammy from the ApparelX trend blog.
In this article, we will introduce TOPRUN Kikaku Co., Ltd., which handles many textiles with especially high strength for bags.
We also have videos of actual textile strength tests, so we hope you’ll watch until the end.
TOPRUN Kikaku Co., Ltd. is headquartered in Tokyo and also has branches in Osaka and Nagoya.
This year marks its 98th anniversary, making it a long-established bag materials manufacturer.
It handles many textiles used for bags, such as nylon, synthetic leather, and genuine leather, and in addition to textile sales, it also develops OEM products.
As a bag textile maker, it is especially strong in highly durable, high-performance textiles, and offers a wide range of textiles focused on strength and lightness.
Recommended products from TOPRUN Kikaku Co., Ltd.
Now, let’s take a closer look at TOPRUN’s carefully selected textiles.
Ballista Nylon is made from extremely durable nylon, using the “ultra-high-strength 66 nylon” that was once used in bulletproof vests as its raw material.
The thread is woven in Fukui by TORAY and dyed at a dyeing factory in Osaka, making this a purely Japanese textile.
It boasts about six times the tear strength of regular nylon.
This is because, unlike ordinary nylon, which is around 210D to 1000D, Ballista Nylon uses an extra-thick 2520D thread.
It is probably made from the thickest nylon used in Japan.
This is a highly functional textile with excellent abrasion resistance, puncture resistance, heat resistance, and water resistance.
Heat resistance: It also has high heat resistance and is highly resistant to temporary heat; test data shows it withstood about 800°C for 30 seconds in a cigarette press test.
Body and resilience: Because it is woven densely, the textile itself has a unique body and resilience, and when used in bags and similar items, it offers excellent structure and is less likely to lose its shape.
Recommended applications
Business bags and backpacks: Bags that require durability, such as business bags that must withstand daily heavy use and backpacks for mountaineering and outdoor activities.
Military items: Military equipment and similar items that require high durability.
Outdoor goods: Outdoor products used in harsh environments, such as tents and chairs.
With its excellent functionality and durability, Ballista Nylon is highly recommended as a material for products you can use for a long time!

“CORDURA Ballistic” is one of the materials in the “CORDURA®” brand developed by the U.S. company INVISTA, a global textile manufacturer, and is a 1680-denier nylon textile with especially high strength.
It uses a special thread made of high-strength 6,6 nylon (Nylon 66) developed by INVISTA, and because the thread itself has high strength, it dramatically improves the overall durability of the textile.
Excellent durability through “ballistic weave”: The word “ballistic” means “trajectory” and originally refers to the weaving method of textile woven in a plain weave (basket weave) using two extra-thick threads side by side, as used in bulletproof vests.
Compared with ordinary nylon, it has far greater resistance to friction and tearing, making it an extremely tough material. It is known for its ruggedness and can withstand harsh use environments.
Recommended applications
Business bags and backpacks
Military items: Military equipment and tactical gear requiring comparable high durability.
Outdoor goods: Outdoor products used in harsh environments, such as tents, tarps, and camping gear.
Other: Used in a wide range of products requiring high durability, such as apparel products like shoes and outerwear, and workwear.

We also have a textile with the same base material and PVC coating on the back, so please be sure to check that out as well.

“DURON®” is a polyurethane material characterized by high durability, and it is especially noteworthy for being made using an environmentally friendly manufacturing process.
It was developed to overcome the weaknesses of ordinary polyurethane materials and to last longer.
Main features of DURON®
1. High durability
Scratch-resistant: It is highly resistant to scratches on the surface. Compared with regular synthetic leather, it is said to be extremely resistant to friction and scratching.
2. Hydrolysis resistance
It is treated to suppress hydrolysis, which is a weakness of polyurethane materials (deterioration caused by moisture), making it resistant to age-related degradation.
3. High strength
It boasts outstanding strength compared with ordinary polyurethane materials.
4. Water resistance / waterproof performance
With a rubber-like texture, it has high water resistance, and some products are also waterproof.
5. Environmentally friendly material
VOC reduction: A new manufacturing method significantly reduces VOCs (volatile organic compounds) emitted during production by about 95%.
6. Texture and design appeal
Matte, rubber-like texture: The surface is matte, with a smooth, distinctive feel like rubber.
Recommended applications
Bags and accessories: Bags such as business bags, backpacks, tote bags, and shoulder bags, as well as accessories like wallets.
It is especially suitable for products that need to be tough for everyday use.

We carried out a test that really tried to damage the surface, so please check the video for the surprising result!
“CORDURA Spectra Rip” is a highly functional textile that combines “CORDURA nylon,” known as a highly durable material, with “Spectra®,” an extremely strong fiber.
CORDURA nylon: A nylon material that is extremely resistant to friction, tearing, and abrasion.
Spectra® fiber: An ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene fiber developed by Honeywell in the U.S., which is extremely lightweight yet said to be about 15 times stronger than steel and offers excellent cut resistance (resistance to cutting).
By combining these two materials, it achieves very high tear strength and abrasion resistance while remaining lightweight.
In particular, when Spectra fiber is woven in a grid pattern (ripstop structure), it helps prevent a tear from spreading further even if the textile is damaged.
Recommended applications
Outdoor gear such as backpacks, daypacks, and sacoches
Small items such as wallets and multi-purpose cases
Clothing such as tents and jackets, and camping gear
It is highly recommended if you want both durability and a lightweight textile!
