Hello. I’m Kayaba from the ApparelX division.

Today, we’d like to introduce the tools that are actually indispensable for making clothes and can be purchased at ApparelX.

Cutting Shears

Shosaburo STS-A-260/STS-A-280 Standard Type Cloth Cutting Shears

Traditional shears from Shosaburo, inheriting the craftsmanship of Japanese scissor-making. The blades use a combination of high-grade cutlery steel and extra-soft steel, and with ample forging, they promise the sharpest cutting performance for any job.

Misaburo No.800 Professional Shears

Made with a composite of the finest cutlery steel (Yasugi steel blue paper No. 1) and soft iron, each pair is carefully finished by skilled craftsmen one by one. This is a handmade item that Misuzu can confidently recommend. With both excellent sharpness and durability, it is the ideal cloth-cutting shear for professional use. *The image shows the 28 cm size.

In addition, we also carry cutting shears from the French craft manufacturer BOHIN.

BOHIN cutting shears are here.

In addition to large cutting shears, we also have small shears used for thread cutting and other tasks. The list of small shears is here.

Needles

Sohou Meriken Needles Hand-Sewing Needles for Professionals, Sohou Meriken Needles

When it comes to hand-sewing needles for professionals, Sohou’s Meriken needles are the standard.

They are hardly ever seen in retail, so even that gives them the feel of professional-grade tools for craftsmen.

50 Sohou Silk Pins, Stainless Steel

Silk pins are, I think, indispensable for tailors during fittings. They are also probably used in garment making for draping and temporary fixing.

Tape Measure

We carry several types of tape measures as well. They are indispensable for tailors and for people working in shops that offer alterations.

NO.2814 German Brass-End Wide Tape Measure

As shown in the photo, one end has a brass fitting, so it is designed not to bend. Because of the fitting, it won’t fold over, making it convenient for measuring lengths from fingertips to cuffs when altering sleeve length, for example.

You may also see versions with the brass part made of plastic, but this one is more durable and won’t become weak or peel.

Other tape measures are here.

Thimbles

925 Highest-Grade Solid Silver Thimble Made with 925 Silver, Available in 8 Sizes

There are thimbles with the same shape, but this one is made of pure silver. It’s a thimble you’ll want to use carefully. With brass thimbles, oxidation from sweat can sometimes turn your finger blue, but that won’t be a problem with this one.

Other thimbles are here.

Other

Jinbutsu Mark Chalk Japanese Hard Professional Tailor’s Chalk

A standard Jinbutsu mark chalk.

Pack in Korona Glue Powder Pack in Korona

Garment glue used for temporary fixing and more. This is a chemical glue that can be easily made by simply dissolving the amount you need in water, so there is no waste. It can also be stored for a long period of time.

99 Water Brush

This is the brush used when applying the glue above. It can also be used as a water brush when you want to moisten a specific area.

For tailors, a water brush can sometimes be easier to use than a spray bottle during ironing work.

Summary

What did you think? I think one of ApparelX’s features is that when ordering notions, you can also place a combined order for tools.

There are still many tools we haven’t introduced, so please take a look.

Other tools are here.
