It has been about three months since I joined the company.
For those three months, I was mainly working on computer-based tasks, but since last Wednesday I have been arranging products in the warehouse.
This is to build product knowledge and to understand ApparelX’s order and fulfillment flow.
First, I was taught which stock items were on which shelves, and what kinds of products were in stock.
Some items I had often seen when I was a student, and others made me think, “What is this?”
I was reminded that there are things that are not needed when making clothes for personal use, but are needed when making garments as products.
The ribbons often attached to both sides of a skirt’s waist are for making it easier to hang on a hanger.
In fact, they are not needed at all in order to wear the garment, so even if I were making a skirt myself, I would not think to attach them.
But that is not the case for products, so I realized that more notions are needed than when making clothes as a hobby.
There were many materials I didn’t know what they were used for, but I was taught each one individually.
When I thought about the clothes I wear every day, there were many things that made me think, “Ah, right!” which was interesting.
Since it was my first time doing this, I was nervous at first, but now I’m really enjoying it.
However, if I make a mistake at the stage of counting products or looking for products, the wrong item will be delivered to the customer as is, so I felt this is a very responsible job.
I want to quickly learn the different types of products and where they are kept so I can work smoothly.
I’m interested in what each item is used for and how they are used differently, so I’d like to keep learning about that too!
