The NATULON® type Vislon and coil zipper introduced this time are recycled zipper using chemical recycling. Chemical recycling is as follows.
In this method, the recovered synthetic fiber products are sent to a factory, where they are washed and finely ground, and then chemically decomposed and returned to the original raw material, DMT (dimethyl terephthalate), which is then used as a raw material for fibers. Several companies are already implementing plans to chemically recycle nylon and polyester products, especially uniforms, after they are collected. In the case of polyester, it is converted back to DMT (dimethyl terephthalate), and in the case of nylon, it is converted back to caprolactam and used as a raw material for fibers. In the case of chemical recycling, it is necessary to collect and process only large quantities of clothing made of the same material, so it is necessary to create an efficient collection system. https://www.jcfa.gr.jp/about_kasen/katsuyaku/22.htmlFrom the Japan Chemical Fibers Association homepage
We apologize for not knowing the recycling costs and CO2 emissions during the recycling process, but chemically recycled zipper can be manufactured as recycled zipper by undergoing chemical treatment after use and returning them to the raw materials for fibers. It seems possible. It can truly be called an environmentally recyclable zipper.
I think the use of recycled materials is becoming commonplace around the world.
The YKK logo reads "Little Parts. Big Difference.®".
Why not think about SDGs from the zipper?
