Long time no see, it’s Jane again!
Each country has its own traditional costume, and when it comes to Vietnam, Aodai (Ao Dai) is famous and widely known.
But did you know that over time, the design and shape of the Aodai have also changed?
This time, I’d like to introduce several designs of the Aodai, which is part of my homeland’s traditional dress!
The prototype of the modern Aodai

Aodai in the 19th century

The Aodai changed shape in 1960 and has remained popular ever since.

The traditional white Aodai is worn as a high school uniform.

The red Aodai is worn as a bridal outfit.

Ao Nhat Binh (Ao Nhat Binh) is a type of Aodai that was worn only by Vietnamese royalty in the 18th to 19th centuries.

In recent years, Ao Nhat Binh has been popular mainly among younger generations, and many girls wear it for weddings.

New-style Aodai designs have no neckline, and their shape has been changed for easier movement, making them suitable for Vietnam’s hot climate. These Aodai are often worn during Lunar New Year and important events.

I hope I was able to convey at least a little of the charm of the Vietnamese Aodai. Which Aodai design do you like best? Thank you for reading to the end! I’d be very happy if you shared this post and supported us!
