Hello. This is Kayaba from the Trend Blog. Today, I would like to talk about the GOPE CORE, which has been a trend in Japan for the past few years.
We will also introduce materials and auxiliary supplies that can be used for Goop Core items.
First of all, what is GOP Core?
The word "core" has the same meaning as "normcore." It has the same nuance as "hardcore," which means "authentic, thorough."
So, what is "Goop"?
This acronym stands for "Good Old Raisins and Peanuts" and is derived from the trail mix used to replenish nutrients during outdoor activities such as hiking.
In other words, GOP refers to outdoor activities such as trail running and mountain climbing, which are more strenuous than camping.
In other words, Goopcore is fashion that incorporates authentic outdoor wear into everyday wear.
This is a matter of nuance, but outdoor refers to all outdoor activities. For example, wax jackets, hunting jackets, and 60/60 mountain jackets are also included as outdoor mix items, but the nuance of Gorpe Core is that it is truly functional and full-fledged in modern times.
From Instagram
The trend started when overseas celebrities started posting about functional outdoor wear as everyday clothing on social media, and in 2022 it has also been featured in the media as a trend.
In the early 2010s, ultra-functional hardcore brands such as Germany's ACRONYM and Arc'teryx Veilance began to feature, and in the mid-2010s, Italy's Stone Island began to make waves by releasing collaboration items with Supreme (a brand that already had many fans at the time).
In opposition to this, the 90s revival saw collectors of vintage The North Face and Stone Island being featured and gaining influence on social media, giving rise to the movement known as Gorpccore.
The following article is in English and is about GOP Core written in 2017.

I also think that the outdoor boom caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 accelerated the Goop Core trend.
In particular, Arc'teryx has always had a large presence, and while flashy colors were the mainstream for serious outdoor wear, Arc'teryx's tonal colors that are easy to wear as everyday fashion and its sophisticated, minimalist designs were accepted by the mass market, and I think that Goopcore also became a big movement. (I think Arc'teryx was first introduced to Japan in the early 2000s.)
Also, depending on the purpose, outerwear known as hard shells are made a little larger so that you can wear something underneath, and they have cord at the waist and hem that allow you to easily change the silhouette and change the style, which I think is also a reason why they have been accepted by the market.
The following items are symbolic of Goop Core.
From here on, we will introduce the textile and auxiliary materials that can be used for items such as GOP CORE.
It is a fairly thin three-layer textile that can be used for a variety of items, including outerwear.
This is another highly functional 3-layer product. It has high water resistance, high breathability, and wind resistance. It is a little thicker than the textile mentioned above.
This product can be used for all purposes, from casual wear to outdoor activities.
Water resistance level: 20,000 mm / Breathability level: 8,000 g/m2/24 hr. Perfect for sporty items.
"McClory" is a nylon material characterized by its natural-like matte texture and good color development.
It is also quick-drying and water-repellent, making it a recommended material for a wide range of uses, from town use to outdoor activities.
It seems like it would be especially useful for nylon cargo pants.
When it comes to zipper for the outdoors, water repellent zipper!
As this is basically factory production, there will be a lead time, but if it is black, we may be able to deliver it in a short time if it is just a sample. (This is based on the premise of mass production.)

We also carry buckles from FIDLOCK.
It can be used for cord on hoods and hems, etc.
This is a strap from NIFCO. Hardware with a whistle like this also has an outdoor feel to it.
Thank you for reading to the end.
If you've read this far, here's an interesting article for you:

This is an interesting article that serves as a warning against pursuing new commercial trends without considering the cultural background and history behind them.
In Japan, when a niche trend or item becomes a mass trend, we say it "gains citizenship," but the day when the word Gorpcore is no longer used may be the day when Gorpcore truly gains citizenship and takes root in people's lives.
