Hello.
As the demand for masks increases, functional hygienic materials such as textile that can be used for cloth masks and antibacterial treatments are attracting attention.
Among these, in addition to the CLEANSE processed textile, whose production has not kept pace, we would like to introduce a textile called CatLight®, which is attracting attention.
I will quote it below.
``Catlight® is a photocatalytic process created by the fusion of Tokai Senko Co., Ltd.'s unique processing technology and the visible light responsive photocatalyst V-CAT® developed by Toyota Central Research Institute Co., Ltd.''

It's a textile processing technology that exhibits various functionality depending on the light.
Its three main features are antibacterial activity, decomposition of proteins contained in sweat and sebum dirt, and deodorizing function.
The above effects are achieved through photocatalytic processing.
In addition, this photocatalyst uses nano-level particles, so it does not affect the texture of the textile. Catlighit® is effective not only under ultraviolet rays but also under lights such as fluorescent lights*1.
*1 Works in visible light (400nm to 520nm).
We have briefly described its characteristics, but what is its effectiveness as a mask material?
The textile has dirt decomposition, deodorizing, and antibacterial properties, giving a sense of hygiene and security, so it can be textile as the outer material of masks that can be washed and reused.
One thing to note is that it does not have antiviral properties.
The photocatalytic treatment is useful for hygienic purposes as it is used as the outer material of cloth masks that touch the mouth and can become unhygienic with repeated use.

Cloth masks have suddenly been attracting attention since the issue of government distribution of cloth masks has come to light.
Of course, it may be less effective than medical masks or disposable masks made of non-woven fabric with small gaps between the fibers, but it seems that the need for cloth masks will not change because it seems to be effective in not infecting people. Masu.
If you are going to make it, I think it would be better to use a more hygienic textile.
