ApparelX is launching a sustainability project, “ApparelX Sustainable,” this time.
The purpose of this project is to help solve even a small part of the challenges in the fashion industry and to have a positive impact on the environment and society.
In particular, we will focus on reducing waste, sourcing sustainable products, and promoting sustainable practices.
On the “ApparelX Sustainable Blog,” we will share our day-to-day activities and the metrics we have achieved to improve sustainability in the fashion industry.
For this first post, we will introduce the topics that we believe we should improve and achieve as we continue our activities going forward.
- Packing materials: At present, many packing materials are still non-recyclable, not only in the apparel industry.
We will actively explore alternative packing materials to minimize environmental impact.
- Products / product pages: We will expand our range of sustainable products.
We will also categorize sustainable products and improve product pages so that customers looking for such products and sympathizing with our efforts can access them more easily.
- Suppliers: Collaboration with suppliers and manufacturers is essential to making the fashion industry sustainable.
We will build closer relationships with suppliers and manufacturers, aiming to list more sustainable products and further improve production traceability.
- R&D: Collaboration with research institutions such as universities is important for making the fashion industry sustainable.
We will leverage academic expertise to explore more fundamental solutions.
- Shipping: Shipping raw materials, supplies, and finished products is a necessary process in the fashion industry.
To make shipping more environmentally friendly, we are considering introducing shipping options with lower greenhouse gas emissions.
- Internal initiatives: Of course, sustainability efforts within the company are also important. We are advancing initiatives to minimize environmental impact, such as reducing waste and eliminating paper materials.
- Collection business: To help reduce mass disposal, one of the challenges in the apparel industry, we are considering a collection business for textiles and trim materials.
We will explore ways to collect surplus inventory from our customers, such as brands and apparel manufacturers, as well as from suppliers and manufacturers, and reuse it.
Going forward, the “ApparelX Sustainable Blog” will introduce our activities and achievements for each topic.
To make the fashion industry sustainable, your cooperation is essential.
We would appreciate your continued support in building a sustainable industry!
