Every season, manufacturers all over Japan come up with newer and more innovative textile technology. Since there is so little information in English about these on the internet, in this series, I will guide you through a list of famous functional fabrics in Japan.

CLEANSE® is an antibacterial and antiviral textile technology of Kurabo Industries. This technology uses Etak to immobilize bacteria and viruses on the fiber surface.
The immobilized antibacterial ingredient Etak is a commercialized ingredient based on the disinfectant used for treatment and cleaning of the oral cavity. Etak is also known as octadecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, a quaternary ammonium salt such as benzalkonium chloride, which is also used as a disinfectant for skin and mucous membranes in medical practice.

CLEANSE® reduces the number of viruses (both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses) on the fiber by more than 99% and suppresses the growth of bacteria.
Kurabo Industries confirmed that CLEANSE® technology affects about 20 types of microorganisms (bacteria / fungi) and viruses, including bacteria that cause unpleasant odors.
